Ibanez Flanger FL5

Ibanez Flanger FL5

Usually flangers are heavy on the treble side, but the FL5 is different: it has more meat, more mids and adds depth and richness while providing superb flanging effects.

  • I like this pedal. It's thicker than your average flanger. When at it's deepest, it becomes a mini-delay for half a second, though this goes away as the rate knob is turned up. Fun to play with.
  • Good Points: - Good mid-range flanger - Cheap
  • Bad Points: - Plastic housing - Unresponsive foot-switch - A tad obnoxious at some times - Non-true bypass (cuts out some high-end)

  • yeah, really an unimpressive flanger...and stupid soundtanks and their plastic cases...you want a flanger, sorry this is just a crap machine...maybe it can be modded/bent to produce something cool hmmmm....
  • Good Points: who needs good points
  • Bad Points: it's a soundtank, rocketek and arion make better ones.

  • It's a very basic flanger. If you want a flanger and don't want to pay too much, this is your choice. If you want something with character, go luck somewhere else.
  • Good Points: -basic flanger -you can get it cheap
  • Bad Points: -no character
  • Price Paid: US$0.00

  • Sound really cheap, which can sometimes be a good thing. The regeneration seems to be a little on the useless side. If it's down low, it's usable, but anything past 9 o'clock will make the sounds it's putting out stick out -- too me, it's just too obvious what's going on. I use this when I need something to push a self-oscillating loop momentarily with it's 'divebomber' sound it puts out, but anything more than a second sounds way too cheap and obnoxious. I think it's worth experimenting with, as I've gotten quite a bit of use out of mine over many years.
  • Good Points: Different sounds from most flanges.
  • Bad Points: Sometimes sounds too obnoxious. Regeneration too touchy.
