  • this is my go-to pedal for vocal distortion. it feeds back just enough, but it's not overpowering. has a good boost and adds a nice overdriven edge.
  • Good Points: - its a boss - perfect for vocals - easy to control
  • Bad Points: - not that great in a chain

  • This is good as a booster on top of your amp distortion. As a standalone you need a little more. It's quite gentle but definitely has an edge on the other boss distortions.
  • Good Points: Warm, Add's to your distortion, Give's you a distinct edge on your tone.
  • Bad Points: Quite Pricey for what it does.
  • Price Paid: US$50.00

  • I originally bought this with the intention of strictly using it for the guitar, but I was pleasantly surprised by it's abilities in a feedback chain. it's not a dominant pedal, but it boosts the gain just enough to be useful
  • Good Points: -solid overdrive -good for boosting the overall signal -adds treble to any chain -also good for guitar -boss reliability
  • Bad Points: -cannot really think of one -eq kinda useless (?)
  • Price Paid: US$100.00

  • I like its warm and loud sound, expecially if you use this to boost another distortion. The tone knob hasn't a large range, but does it works well. This pedal is good for a guitar. Not so good on a bass...
  • Good Points: -warm and loud sound -high gain -the color...
  • Bad Points: standard drive, not noisy and with poor possibility of changing its sound
  • Price Paid: US$50.00

  • One of the best distortions that boss ever made... Its tone actualy does not suck, and it is relitivly loud. Made to simulate tube overdrive, and is good at it... Place it after some reverb and your in wall o sound heavin...
  • Good Points: Good tone, loud, boss construction...
  • Bad Points: expensive for what it does...

  • This pedal sounds great on guitars. It's a good sounding and a versitile distortion that goes from a boost to grungey sounds. It's my favourite distortion pedal for guitars but it's not quite heavy enough to use as a sound source or most other noise applications. It's got enough gain to get a metal sound (with an EQ). Responds well to dynamics. The tone knob doesn't do that much. It's trebely at times, but not grainy like a lot of overdrives.
  • Good Points: Excellent sound and value. Responds to dynamics. Only really sounds good on guitars.
  • Bad Points: Not the best noise pedal. Not that good EQ.
