Fucking insane pedal right here. A really wide array of sounds with various waveforms, lfos, freq, decay, res, and direct/wet knobs.
Good Points: Good for creating walls thanks to the wet/dry feature. Good for a loop/chain if you want to avoid sure static noise. Makes for some of the greatest microphone feedback that you've ever heard. Built Boss tough.

* 5 analog modeling wave forms : saw, square, pulse 1, pulse 2, PWM, and 4 variations : saw - 1 octav., square - 1 octav., saw + LFO, square + LFO
* 2 filters for external sound : wave-shape normal/reverse
* frequency, resonnance and decay knobs
* the ÅÅecay knob is also the ÅFO rate effect knob
* an external pedal input jack has been added to the SYB-5 for connecting the Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal ($old $eparately), which allows you to control filter cutoff and LFO rate in real time.
You can use the onboard pedal to hold a note while playing phrase over it.
Comparing with SYB-3 (born in 1996, the SYB-5 was launch in 2004) : SYB-3ÃÔ saw is deeper than SYB-5ÃÔ saw, but SYB-5ÃÔ square is fatter though SYB-5 sounds are not as rich as SYB-3. The "duophonic square" mode is a good idea, real hardcore sound.
The LFO is excellent, very usefull, from very slow to hyper faster !
SYB-5 tracking is far better than SYB-3 tracking and the wave shape is sharper than SYB-3.
Pulse 1 and PWM sounds are noisy, dirty... not very usefull... exept for drones.
Goodie : the ÅÑulse 2 sound is a ÅÕalk like sound effect, cool ! And the ÅÆxpression input is perfect.
Good Points: Industrial bass sounds and drones : OK.
LFO : powerfull.
"duophonic square" mode, "voice" mode and expression pedal input.
Bad Points: sounds are not as rich as the SYB-3... pwm and saw are not very good comparing to the SYB-3.
