Audible Disease Rupture RP-1

Audible Disease Rupture RP-1

The insanity that can be heard from the Audible Disease Rupture RP-1 is just a twist of a knob away. The Rupture creates a feedback loop that takes just about any signal-processing device and spews forth demented sonic violence. Plug in a pitch shifter and create bizarre vortex of sound, which sometimes just disintegrates into screeching feedback. Phasers, Chorus, Filters and Flangers all sound like a mad, dilapidated machine going out of control. Hook up a distortion pedal and discharge an array of effects, from synth-like textures, to unsystematic octave jumps, to weird drum-loop like patterns. Experiment with anything and everything to get the most peculiar sounds you¡Çve ever heard! Be warned though, the Rupture does create exceedingly loud sounds. Caution must be used at extreme volumes. Each one is hand made with high quaility parts and is costomized with a unique and bizarre collage.

  • If you know you like feedback loops and want to get something to add some more flavor (and look fucking sweet in a pedal set up), this baby is for you. Probably capable of withstanding even the most careless of attitudes towards gear. I wouldn't recommend this as a first feedback looping pedal, though. Use mixers or multi-input pedals just to get a flavor for feedback looping before jumping into this, as floops aren't necessarily easy to incorporate into a setup, and they have the learning curve others have mentioned. You may not like feedback looping at all. (Try a distortion, EQ, and delay to get started). Very simple zen lay out, one knob, maximum craziness.
  • Good Points: Fucking ay, this thing is a tank, I trust Bob knows his shit. I got some candy with mine. The knob will wreck your shit around it's max setting. Better than risking blowing a channel on a mixer.
  • Bad Points: Floops can be sour little bitches, takes time to get used to.

  • A simple pedal but incredibly useful. Yes, you can easily make one for yourself but I recommend getting it from Bob. Why? Bob makes it look cool, he uses quality parts and he knows what he's doing. If you wonder why should you get it just google "feedback loop" and find for yourself.
  • Good Points: - Looks incredibly awesome! - Sturdy - Useful!! - Brings new life into boring flangers, phasers and other modulation pedals
  • Bad Points: - Price

  • The Rupture is a wonderfully simple little pedal which when use correctly can yeild some pretty outlandinsh results. As almost everyone below has said there is A LOT of experimentation needed in order to put this thing in context with the rest of your set up and find out how to use it to optimum effect. But then I guess if you were looking for a straight plug-in-and-play type of pedal you'd have bought a Boss DS-1 instead. I tend to find that the Rupture works best on the feedbacky break-up bits in between bursts of harsher noise, as with my current set-up the wet singal seems to get overwhelmed by strong/hot inputs. At the mo i'm using it with a Digitech Whammy only to create all sorts of motorcycle-like revving noises. Definitely recommended but expect to spend a bit of time learning how to use it.
  • Good Points: - Offers a whole tone of possibilities. - Has the potential to transform your existing pedal collection into something else completely. - Fantastic value. - Brilliant collage artwork (min is covered with pictures of trees and drums). - Intensity of the wet output controllable via the single knob.
  • Bad Points: - Difficult to get immediate results. But this is only a negative if you're impatient!

  • I use it just about everydamnday.
  • Good Points: Gives a new life to filters, a few distortion pedals can give you a raging screaming torrent of sound, simple, all around good. The number one thing in noise (well along with gear) is experimenting, and this thing lets you experiment.
  • Bad Points: You could build one yourself in theory, but the parts are so high end that you don't really notice.

  • Quite an interesting and unusual pedal...although I'm not really a harsh noise/power elcetronics guy (my stuff is more in the Throbbing Gristle/Wolf Eyes/Voice Crack side of things) I still use feedback loops a lot to create ambient backing sounds. This, however, moves a feedback loop from just background noise up to a much more controllable yet equally unpredictable level. The knob pretty much destroys any signal you process through it. If you jack the knob up real high, it just rapes the hell out of the pedals in the send/return jacks. However if it's turned up real high, the input signal gets lost in the destruction. Also, guitars and regular dynamic/cardiode mics don't really work with this; they don't really produce a strong enough signal to significantly contribute to the overall sound. tape/cd/record players, synth/samplers, and contact mics work best.
  • Good Points: Destroys the signal of the pedal loop offers more control and fun for feedback loops nuts with a contact mic really random tons of possibilities
  • Bad Points: some input signals don't work well sometimes the input signal doesn't really mix with the sound and just layers over top of it. other than that, pretty damn good

  • This pedal rules! It creates a feedback loop you can control with the knob. It fucked up everything...you will spend hours and hours in searching new combinations of pedals to plague into it with different final results. It is very chaotic and i use it for add to my sound some crazy fast out of control high piercing frequency that i love. I recommend this to everyone - even if you are looking for a different type of noise, this pedal is really funny for extra sessions...and for the price it is a must to have!
  • Good Points: -creazy and chaotic sound -endless possibilities -built by a great noisician -good quality parts used -nice look -great price -funny funny funny

  • As mentioned before, the Rupture adds a feedback-loop which can be tweaked by the "mistery-knob". I mainly use it with a contact-mic in the input and a Digitech Deathmetal and BassSynthWah in the loop. The real deal is the last quarter, turn of the knob. The Rupture really fucks up everything that goes in and spews out total sonic annihilation.
  • Good Points: easy to use countless ways to use brutal and sick sound not that expensive looks nice
  • Bad Points: found none

  • This pedal is SICK. This pedal creates a feedback loop and is controlled by the knob. What the nob is supposed to do is anyone's guess as it doesn't ever do the same thing twice. Not only does this pedal look awesome, as has a nice collage/decopage look, but it is also completely devestating. The sound it creates is dependent upon the pedals you have in the loop and the position of the pedals. You send a signal through it and it just fucks everything up like mad. It really is ideal in an improvisation setup but for composed noise it would be near useless, unless you really took your time to study the thing. It gives a whole new feel to your loop. Definitely Recommended
  • Good Points: Solid and Sturdy High Volume Reasonable price Versatile Unpredictable Operates Smoothly Can bring life into any effects loop
  • Bad Points: to me, nothing, but some people might not appreciate the unpredictability

  • After a bit of fiddling around trying to figure this thing out, I've finally started getting some interesting results out of it. For such a deceptively simple pedal, it has a pretty high learning curve to get anything cool out of it. Trying out all the possible combinations of sends & returns with different inputs -- not to mention the possibilities of using other pedals in multiple loops around this -- makes the Rupture less an individual pedal and more a multipurpose routing device. Used right, it can entirely alter your sound and open up new ideas. With different setups I've already gotten everything from dense cascading sheets of feedback to glitchy and rhythmic patterns. I have found that sometimes, depending on the setup, the pedal doesn't really respond to sounds coming into the input, and the single knob is really unpredictable in its effect -- again, it works totally differently depending on the setup. I tend to look at this unpredictability as more of a good thing, though, as I've yet to get this pedal to sound the same twice. A really innovative and powerful tool right here.
  • Good Points: Totally unique sound and endless possibilities for setup and use. Unpredictable operation.
  • Bad Points: Long learning curve, doesn't work optimally with some setups, unpredictable operation (also a plus, though).

  • Mine came with a cool Japanese teen mag decoupage: it's a sweet effect, all the other(s) you put in it's send / return loop start talking to each other in ever decreasing circles. The knob is pretty handy with an instrument or mic thru the input / output; you can get a fair to excellent degree of control over proceedings. 1 til 3 o'clock gives the best yield at my settings.
  • Good Points: .decoupage .unique / horror .sound evolves
  • Bad Points: .not a bad point as such, but it REALLY benefits from an instrument or mic on the input

  • Can get lots of great sounds with this pedal, can use it as a feedback loop or part as one. Used it with a mic in the input and still seems to keep it sound intact while mixing in the feed back loop from the return. Crazy pedal with endless combos to get different sounds.
  • Good Points: Made of metal. The sheet that comes with it has an e-mail adress where you can contact them if it ever breaks and the'll fix it.
  • Bad Points: Mystery nob

  • this thing has unending possibilities. the loudness it advertises is right on. no volume loss that you may get with other pedals of this nature. i like using it as feedback loop within my larger feedback loop. great amount of chaos insues...and it seems to isolate what pedals are in there from the pedals that around it, and bring them forward in the mix a bit. and i keep trying new combos of pedals and im getting different sounds each time. for the price alone this thing is highly recomended...but id get it if you want a little more chaos in you mix...
  • Good Points: solid build smooth operation on the knob and on/off great decopage look crazy sound oh and a green led
  • Bad Points: the instructions dont really tell you what the knob does...but its a pretty simple effect...
