Zoom 505 Guitar

Zoom 505 Guitar

The Zoom 506 Bass is an interesting multi effects processor. It has a total of 24 effects (9 you can use simultaneously) and 24 programmable user patch locations. Some of the effects you can find on this beast are: distortions, delays, reverbs, wah, chorus, flanger, EQ, 2-octave pitch bend and more! It has a built in chromatic tuner which is perfect for noise applications (note: sarchasm). It's a great effect for noise. Operates with 9-volt 'barrel' type adapter or a 9 volt battery.

  • this is an ok pedal for digital multi effects. its pretyy useful for vocals but i wouldn't want to try and feedback or make a lot of noise walls or anything.
  • Good Points: great on vocals.
  • Bad Points: digital. thin. plastic.

  • Nice, flexible multi effects unit, especially considering I managed to pick it up on Eboy for Ž£18 (Ž£18!!!). A lot of the stuff on here works a treat for noise: most of the distortions are pretty harsh, the reverbs and delays have a wonderfully cheap and nasty sound to them (definitely a good thing) and the step filter is more resonant than I expected it to be. Where this thing really shines though is the pitch shifter. Absolutely......... dirty.
  • Good Points: - Lots of potential for noise. - Cheap. - Pretty abundant.
  • Bad Points: - Made of plastic, so probably not that durable. - Convoluted mechanism for patch editing so tweaking sounds on the fly is out of the question really.

  • A fairly nice box, lots of useable stuff for noise. Love the ring mods and pitch shift. The audible pause when you switch patches can be a pain, but that's just one of the quirks of using a multi-effect. plastic case but still feels fairly sturdy. It's especially excellent if you just need one sound on it(reverb, etc) and don't need to flip around a lot.
  • Good Points: good sounds, noise friendly, ring mod and pitch shift rule.
  • Bad Points: audible signal pause when switching patches. doh!

  • A great pedal for feedback looping, contact mic action, weird vocals, or fucking with your synth/sampler/tape player/ etc. Not so good for noise guitar... it's a bit too digital for that sort of thing. The step, pitch bend, and ring modulator are especially good.
  • Good Points: Tons of possibilities Long-lasting batteries nuts with a contact mic great effect loop gadget
  • Bad Points: bad if you like to use mostly guitar some of the effects ain't that great
