  • Great raw sounding big muff style fuzz. I use it on my electric drums, drumcomputers and rhythmboxes. The best set up for quit extreme distorted drums is 1 zvex mastotron second EHX bass big muff and last Swollen pickle. The drumsound are broken, splintered and extremly rough.
  • Good Points: The rough fuzz the bandpass filter mid scoop crunch
  • Bad Points: nothing

  • Is it just me or do the other two reviews here have nothing to do with noise?

I've owned both the original and this reissue of the SP, and while they're certainly similar, each has a unique part to its range, but not in any way that would concern a noise musician really. I could only find those areas while playing traditional and otherwise clean instruments (so don't go spending $$$ on the original).

It's pretty much a relatively compressed sounding big muff. It's a perfectly good pedal for processing bass and other lower sounds. The extra controls help with that.
  • Good Points: Well built. Cheaper than the original. Gets very loud.
  • Bad Points: None particularly, it does what it does well. I sortof wish that the mini-knobs were just normal full-sized knobs - they seem to only have done that to retain the original look.

  • I totally disagree with "Fibro" on every point.

    A) This thing doesn't work well with my bass, a 1978 Gibson Ripper (fret-less) It's extremely noisy for some reason whereas there's no problem at all running my bass through other (high gain) pedals, namely T-Rex Spin Doctor.

    B) On the other hand it sounds freakin' sweet (like ridiculously so) when playing my Dean MKL.

    C) Why wouldn't you recommend this for synths and other devices? Sounds like a lack of creativity...

    D) "You can get some raw and powerful tones with great sustain and loudness, and it's good if you need a "feedbacker"" - okay I actually AGREE with this one part.

    E) WTF is too hyped supposed to mean and why should anyone care?

    F) There's a whopping 5 knobs on the outside and 2 inside which I doubt anyone would be adjusting on a regular basis. I completely disagree with the thought that one can have "too much" control. *see below for why.

    G) "Good sound" is highly subjective...
  • Good Points: * The amount of control offered by this fuzz seems to WAYYY surpass that offered by most other fuzzes. This in turn allows you to tweak this ONE pedal to sound like several others. I have absolutely no idea why someone would consider this a bad thing.

The only fuzz box I could find that would deliver the exact sound I was looking for. The only other that comes close is the Pro Tones Monster Fuzz but that thing is 70 dollars more plus shipping and isn't as versatile.
  • Bad Points: As I initially mentioned, it is very noisy when used in conjunction with my vintage bass. Though if I really wanted to use it I'd just have to turn 1 knob on my DBX 166XL... hard work right?

  • Own this one for less than a year and I must say it's a good fuzz, works well with bass (I only tried it once with guitar and it seemed fine), while I would not reccomend it for synths or other devices, because the sound won't come out as powerful. You can get some raw and powerful tones with great sustain and loudness, and it's good if you need a "feedbacker". It's a good fuzz, but a bit too hyped, and the control knobs are too many and it's not immediate to get a good sound you might like out of it.
  • Good Points: -Abrasive, loud and raw, especially on bass.

-Solid metal case -Good loudness and sustain, low-end freqs are good.
  • Bad Points: -Overpriced -It has two inside knobs that regulates the mid freq "scoop" and the sustain tone (open sustain or not) -Too many control knobs
  • Price Paid: US$200.00
