excellent for sustained droning, a.k.a. fat and thick, it resembles the pro co rat distor pedal but with a littrle bit more versatile, more "ROCK" wich could be helpful for those shoegazin (do they satill exist) solos and the background wall of sound. recomendable for a starter if found cheap.. Overall... Nice pedal. Not too good for extreme things like de DOD GRUNGE. that's the best one.
Good Points: When Ibanez saw the success of the Rat they didn't waste much time in cooking up, and marketing the "Fat Cat", FC-10 pedal. Without splitting hairs: Most guys would be hard pressed to find pedals built by two totally different companies, that sounded more alike.
You can easily interchange them. The difference: the Fat Cat seems more focused, and slightly less harmonically active. It would probably sound a bit more musical when used for recording. The Rat is a little more distorted, and whistles like an industrial bird call, creating effortless effects in live performance.
Bad Points: Not really bad points, but Not much of an extreme pedals. I like de Grunge DOD and I accept other suggestions!
