- I got a sick deal on this from a middle aged rockabilly guitarist. Boy did I ever luck out. This thing is pure heaven. The only other tape echo I've used is an Echoplex, which also has an incredible sound, however, vintage tape echoes in general are known for being extremely unreliable. This thing on the other hand is like a miracle of modern science. Open up the top and watch the tape start rolling as you start to play, then stop as when the signal stops. You'll be amazed. Supposedly this will extend the tape life to about 3 years, not bad. The tape was just changed on mine so I should be good to go for 6 years. Anyway, if you are interested in a tape echo, I highly recommend this. God bless the Japanese.
- Good Points: As your loop repeats, the highs get rolled off and the sound degrades in the most beautiful way (you could spend days just listening to this). Also, repeats can go on literally forever. You can connect a footswitch to turn the echo on/off. There is an "echo only" output as well as stereo outs. It has an indicator to show if your signal is too loud. 5 different echo modes. It sounds better than any bucket-brigade analog delay ever will and it is more reliable than any old-school tape echo could ever hope to be. Oh yeah, solid construction too.
- Bad Points: If you absolutely must have that characteristic vintage sound, this may not be what you're looking for. Otherwise nothing. It is flawless.
