User Reviews of the Ensoniq Parallel Effects Processor DP 4

The Ensoniq DP/4 is nearly a perfect box for noise. What you get is essentially a box full of pedals and a patchbay. You can use up to four effects at once, with up to four sources. You can route them just about any way you can think, including feedback loops, with plenty of modulation sources. All this wouldn't mean much unless the effects inside were any good, which they are! You get all the stock multi-fx stuff (I think the reverbs are up there with higher end stuff), with some more interesting things like a van der pol filter, a vocoder, and a sine/noise generator. Most parameters can be modulated by midi cc. I'm really surprised more people aren't up on this thing, but I guess that's okay, because they keep getting less expensive. Get on it while you can!
Good Points: Loads of excellent effects, good midi implementation, crazy routing algorithms, lots of in/outs, incredibly cheap for what it does
Bad Points: Gigantic rack unit, not many real-time knobs on the front panel, small two-line display
