  • While not nearly as flexible as the Micro Q-Tron, it is both cheaper and smaller. The range switch between treble and bass makes up somewhat for the single filter setting. I tested it mainly with a contact mic. It produces mainly wind-like sounds with some slightly more fluid ones. If I were looking for something to shape the sound of a contact mic, I'm not sure whether I would go for this or a cheap eq pedal. The range knob allows for gradual adjustment of the filter, but unlike the three position knob on the Micro Q-Tron, it does not allow for abrupt transitions. The choppy transitions can be replicated somewhat with the range switch, but they are not too dramatic. Overall, if you're looking for an envelope follower, I would spend a bit extra for the Micro Q-Tron and its more flexible controls.
