The FX96 gives you the warm sounds of an analog tape delay. A "tape quality" control lets you decide how much regeneration you want in the repeats.

  • one of the most slayest analog delays (that was) on the market! first, it's analog, so it puts all that boss, et. al., junk to rest immediately. second, it's loaded with the bucket brigade chip--google that if you're not certain. that's made this sucker desireable years after all the other modern DOD effects lost their luster. tape quality and time knobs give a very smooth and creamy tape delay feel. granted, not as good as an actual tape delay, but the next best thing.
  • Good Points: made in usa solid construction easy interface
  • Bad Points: battery sucker, so use adapter other DOD drawbacks
  • Price Paid: US$95.00

  • Well I dunno about this. I use this in a chain of effects and it tends to get drowned out all the time, darn those heavy distortions:) Anyway when I use just a couple of effects in front of it I can get some repetitions from this and that is what it is all about, right. Got a bit of a muddy sound when you adjust the tape delay knob. I prefer digital delays as those I have tried have been more powerfull and can be used in a full harshnoise setting. Would not buy another of these and only keeping it since I got i cheap.
  • Good Points: Well it can repeat stuff and it can sound muddy.
  • Bad Points: Batteryconsumer. Weak in a chain.

  • A good delay to use in a series with other delays. On its own, the delays a too short, and just a bit muddy. Not analog muddy either, but kind of a digital clipping on low frequencies. This clipping gets more exagerated when you crank the tape quality knob. This knob rolls off the highs ,and adds more low frequency clipping (an effect that isn't without its use). But if it is used in conjunction with another delay it starts to shine. The combination will yield large, spacey sounds. Great for adding depth to an otherwise flat sounding track. Not an especially good pedal to do live edits with (knobs aren't all that responsive). Best used as a general purpose thickener in a chain with other delays. Oh, and you'll need a power supply, it eats batteries.
  • Good Points: Reacts well with ohter delays. The tape quality knob can add little low frequency distortion. While no longer made, they are cheap and common.
  • Bad Points: Delays are short. Knobs are not very responsive. Eats batteries.
