Audible Disease Convulsion CN-2

Audible Disease Convulsion CN-2

The Audible Disease Convulsion CN-2 is a vicious high-gain distortion unit that pushes your sound into the realm of complete insanity. With a twist of the NOISE knob, you can blend pure white noise with your input signal for extra psychotic enjoyment. If that isn't enough craziness for you, this monster also has the ability to decimate the sound even further with the SPIT knob. By tweaking this knob, your sound will start to cough, spit and sputter on the verge of auditory death. The COUGH knob rips up the sound even more by oscillating the signal. When a low-level signal is fed into the CN-2, the thing can self- produce bubbling regurgitations on it's own -- plus you can blend in the white noise to make a crazed white noise generator! Festooned with special artwork by the esteemed Bay Area artist Bonnie Banks. Operates with a standard 9-volt battery or a standard 9-volt negative tip barrel type 9-volt DC power adapter.

  • Audible Disease does it again! If you're looking for a pedal to totally annihilate your signal, look no further. The knobs should really be labeled: Volume, Murder, Violently Torture, and Attacked By Ravenous Dogs. The sputtering, hacking, grinding, shredding sounds the CN-2 makes has me hating myself for waiting so long to buy it.
  • Good Points: Solid Audible Disease construction. Loud, noisy, unique, versatile. Works wonders with contact mics and effects loops...
  • Bad Points: Shop around, it can be a bit pricey. (but well worth it!)

  • When I got this pedal I plugged my guitar into it and had my friend strum while I tweaked the knobs. Honestly, I almost felt ripped off for a second. Then I unplugged everything and put a Metal Zone MT-2 behind it and left a bare cable dangling and ZANG! Instant sonic chaos. The lower the input signal you send into this thing, the better. Bare cables, contact mics, theremin-type instruments, or nothing at all get this little beauty started off nicely. Something with a decent EQ capability (like the MT-2) definitely gives a lot more tonal shaping/warping capabilities to the nastiness the CN-2 puts out. The two oscillators on this pedal do everything short of digesting your signal... allowing you to get everything from mid-to-high range squeal and nasal whine, to subterranean rumbling. The white noise knob doesn't appear to do much at first, but this is based entirely on what you're running through the pedal. More often than not, rolling back on the noise knob offers up more clicky, gloppy sounds, while cranking it up usually sends things into high-pitched distortion HELL. The volume knob is also highly useful and produces lots of results during tweaking sessions. The oscillator knobs on this thing are not your typical 1 to 10 knob like on other pedals. Each knob is highly responsive, and tweaking either of them even slightly will produce hours upon hours of dynamic sounds. Ultimately, this is a go-to pedal when you need EXTREME noise in a simple package... which is why I'd recommend this to veterans as well as the budding noise artist. The CN-2, a good distortion and maybe some delay, and you'll have the cops at your door in no-time.
  • Good Points: - Lots of possibilities as far as potential sounds; hours and hours of tweakability - Sturdy construction - On/Off button isn't hard to engage by hand - Bob is willing to repair whatever damage you wreak upon it
  • Bad Points: - The LED is extremely bright, but a little tape fixes that right up.

  • I couldn't wait to get my hands on it and when i finally did i couldn't believe that this little fella is capable of producing such insane sounds. Had to crack it open to make sure it has an actual PCB in there instead of a bunch of small, filthy satan's disciples vomiting all over the place. It should be banned.
  • Good Points: - It stutters, spits, chokes, and speaks in tongues. - It is solid, sturdy and incredibly lightweight.
  • Bad Points: - Well...none?

  • Read the good points.
  • Good Points: SICK AS FUCK. You got a sheep-shearing distortion, white noise, some spitting and coughing, holy fuck, now you're mother's dead and the Pope denounces you're very name. This is a very fun pedal, in that it has CHARACTER. It distorts, sure, but it also interacts with itself and the input signal in novel ways. I know you won't be disappointed with this, in fact, you'll be surprised at how wrong you're preconceptions were. This is no mere distortion, this is a pedal that will change your noise.
  • Bad Points: Nothing, unless you don't like badass artwork, kickass sounds, sickass construction, or Bob's sweetass dedication to your happiness with his products.

  • This pedal is absolutely disgusting. If you're looking for a maelstrom of colorful noisy chaos, please do yourself a favor and purchase this. I sat on my floor for hours tweaking hell out of it, and never found myself unsatisfied.
  • Good Points: - extremely light - loud - fun - variety of sound/noises - possibilities so far seem clearly endless
  • Bad Points: bad points?

  • This is quite possibly the best distortion I've used,The cough knob blends between two kinds of oscillation, both of which are total newborn-infant-in-a-blender-tastic.the spit knob rips apart the sound even more, annihilating any sound source, generally to the point of unrecognition. The noise knob is practically useless,however..No noticable effect when it is cranked either way. If your going to buy one decent distortion--get this one! it might not have a EQ but the other features more then make up for it...
  • Good Points: Built like a tank, I had a table collapse and this thing is still fine. The spit and cough knobs are hilariously awesome.Neat artwork. Picks up radio stations if you put a patch cable in the input and play with it with your fingers.
  • Bad Points: Slightly expensive. Annoying battery compartment(makes me nervous with how close it is to the circutry) Noise knob doesnt really add much. Might give you the impulse to contact mic your cat or anything thats close and cant get away fast enough.

  • this thing is unlike any other pedal I've ever used. I personally use this little monster for my bass guitar (I play "noise punk") and the sounds i'm able to get out of it are unbelievabley raunchy. If your forte is more in Knob-turning experimentation, then this is definitely for you. It can be a bit tricky to get exactly what you want out of it at first (I've only had mine for about a month) but once you start getting the hang out it you can make people's ears bleed on demand. When I play bass through it it sounds like my bass and this pedal are fighting in an apocalyptic battle...and my bass is losing...I love it!!!
  • Good Points: very unique built like a tank ear-piercing screaches vomit-inducing drones great for knob-turning badass artwork AUDIBLE DISEASE!!!
  • Bad Points: can be difficult to master, but that's only bad if you are impatient and expect immediate satisfaction

  • The CN-2 is a harsh, raspy high gain distortion with a really mean streak to it. This thing does all manner of things over and above the call of duty for your average distortion; after only a couple of minutes practice I was pulling high pitched bat squeaks, crackling purrs and even rythmic loop-like patterns out of this thing. It is pretty unpredictable but that's certainly no bad thing. And of course the NoiseFX/AD service is secind to none when it comes to getting hold of this thing. Another winner!
  • Good Points: - Harsh. - Flexible. - Purpose built for noise. - Bob is a pleasure to do business with.
  • Bad Points: - Some may find it has a steep learning curve but that's only a bad point if yr impatient.

  • HAHAHAHA insane high gain distortion. This pedal spits, farts ,shreds and destroys any signal fed into it. Total and absolute mind numbing madness. I have recently discovered that this also makes for an amazing sound source. I don't know why i didn't try it earlier....put at the front of the loop and don't plug anything into it.......walls and walls and walls of sonic sodomy. The three way combo of an osc. a decimator and pure white noise makes for very interesting sounds, mostly harsh brutallity but you can also get some synthy sounds ....it's interesting how that happens. This pedal is loud and will dominate your loops. Indestructable
  • Good Points: Loud, high gain distortion insane sounds that come out of this thing cool looking WHITE NOISE built like a brick shit house Green led Bob the builder is friendly, helpful and backs his product with a solid gold warranty
  • Bad Points: none i love this pedal

  • If average distortions are sandpaper, this thing is a chainsaw.
  • Good Points: Can make some interesting noise just as a sound source. They are somewhat chaotic in regards to what it shoots out, sometimes it is total silence, sometimes a stuttering and spitting mess of static. High gain. When used in a chain it rips tone apart into a violent mesh and can create some really dynamic organic feedback. Made by and for noise artists. Pretty artwork.
  • Bad Points: Should only be used at the start/close to the start of a loop/chain, as it can overpower other pedals. kind of expensive.
