Lets you add a 4th below or a 5th above the octave sound and mute the direct sound. Latch/Unlatch control. Powerful distortion. Noise gate with threshold control. Separate input and output level control. Separate MIX/DIRECT and EFFECT outputs allow you to route direct signal to one amp, the effected signal to another amp.

  • Solid, well built pedal with a lots of cool things and only a few quirks. Input gain and output level controls are key. I found that if I want clear octaving or harmonizing the gain must be lighting green and spiking yellow. Anything more will overdrive the circuit. For a cool ring mod kind of sound keep the input gain very low and play several tones at once. The "down a forth" function creates power chords which are cool for a synthlead type sound. The "up a fifth" is also cool but is the lower octave often drowns out the fifth being generated. The pedal is monophonic, meaing that if more than one note of any kind is played the circuit can't track both. "Solo" mode is probably the one I use the most. It creates this cool decay sound as the signal fades. Great for increasing the range of any instrument or generator. The "distortion" is quite basic, and very grainy. I usually turn it off and run distortion from one of my other units.
  • Good Points: Solid build, very good single-note tracking, no signal loss, unique sounding harmonizer, split dry and effected signal. Lots of possible sounds from a simple to use unit.
  • Bad Points: Monophonic (no chords), basic distortion could be better. Hard to find.

  • I have been really impressed with my akai gear. solid construction, haven't had a problem fixing. so i decided to take a chance on this pedal, alot more than i normally like to spend on a pedal, especially for something that ended up just being o.k. the overall distortion is basic, anything below 1 octave is coupled with 6th above...certainly not what i was looking for. the pedal was indeed made for a bassist to carry a song while a guitarist noodles out a solo, but that's not what we do is it? i'm sure it has it's purpose for noise somewhere but, that's a lot of cash to drop for a big if.
  • Good Points: solid construction, dependable akai warranty
  • Bad Points: just not as cool as i'd hoped.
