ProphecySound Infinitphase MkII

ProphecySound Infinitphase MkII

Imagine the bastard child of an illicit union between a Mutron Biphase and a ZVex Seek Wah, and you'll be imagining something like the infinitphase. However, the infinitphase goes far beyond any existing phaser or sequenced device to offer: * extended LFO rate variable from .1Hz to 10Hz * triangle / sawtooth / square / pulse / blended LFO shapes OR step-phased tones OR a blend of both for phased / filter sounds that are out of this world * slew-rate limiting for step-phase control section producing classic sample-and-hold effects or meandering phase tones * positive AND negative resonance adjustable via a single control * an blend of wet and dry signals for subtle phase or outrageous vibrato * dimensions: 20.5cm W x 15.cm D x 6cm H (to top of knobs): 8" W x 5.9" D x 2.4" H The infinitphase's audio section is based on a Mutron Biphase channel (extended to a maximum of 8 phase stages) and, along with the simple yet flexible control section, allows users to emulate traditional phase tones or explore never-before-heard filtering / phase / vibrato / S&H effects.

  • The most advanced phasing device i have ever used. This beast is EXTREMELY versatile and can do all sorts of bizarre warbly things to huge HOWELS of noiz assault. I have used it in concert at a large venue and it was AMAZING on a full size PA system. Works great anywhere in a chain of devices but it seems to shine if it's at the end. LOTS and LOTS of controls! I had mine modded with the additional Height control, LFO speed, Sample & Hold tweek and Stereo out.
  • Good Points: Built EXTREMELY well! The input jacks are really strong. It's hard to unplug the thing! Super versatile controls over all of the aspects of the effect. Mike traded with me a bit to get the price down. I sent him some Astrogenic Hallucinauting merch for part of the payment which was way cool!
  • Bad Points: Weird power supply. Had to kinda build one. The unit showed up with a bit of damage from shipping and the company was supposed to send me a new casing for the device but it just never showed up. :(

  • I was fortunate enough to be graced with one of the final production models before what may be a permanent haitus for Prophecysound. :( I have only owned mine for a little under a day and have only used it to process guitar and monophonic analog guitar synth signals thus far. The version I received has two extra knobs and switches to allow for adjustable phase stages and more prominent sample/hold effects.
  • Good Points: This is the most versatile phaser I have ever used and easily eclipses comparable mass produced digital units in terms of quality and features. The build, tones, and flexibility are astoundingly good. The MKII can be ultilized to emulate a number of other modulation effects including tremolo and all manners of rhythmic chirping, throbbing, and percolation. It also cascades well into other modulation types, both analog and digital, and sounds absolutely spacey fed into a delay. In addition to the appeal of the chic and streamlined black enclosure, the waveform tracking LEDs are mesmerizing. Mike Both, the builder, is also a fabulous person with whom to do business. He stands by his products and offers excellent customer support.
  • Bad Points: Many knobs and switches and a potentially steep learning curve, even with instructions in hand. Doesn't store presets and must sometimes be entirely retweaked to get particular sounds. Can be noisy when engaged and placed in front of an active distortion source. Not all settings respond well to distortion. AC power only with an odd adapter type. A bit on the expensive side (but justifiable considering the painstakingly hand-built analog components and feature set). Possibly discontinued.
