  • I love this pedal. I use it for a mild drive mostly, right before my Big Muff and it's fabulous.
  • Good Points: fat, nice sound
  • Bad Points: A bit temperamental in the filter section.
  • Price Paid: US$25.00

  • I was lucky enough to pick this thing up for free. I would pay for another one though. The filter knob is really fun to use inside of feedback loops.
  • Good Points: The filter knob is really nice for a gate/release sound. Good overdrive. The distortion sounds good outside of a loop.
  • Bad Points: Just a little bit on the expensive side.

  • A great dist box from ProCo, the Turbo Rat is very loud and harsh, more than the Rat II. Like others, I think that the lowpass filter is not so useful (I'd like a better eq) and the sound is less fuzzy than his brother's.
  • Good Points: -great volume boost -harsh and a bit fuzzy -good metal case
  • Bad Points: -bad eq (see: bad lowpass filter) -flat distortion, not a wide range of sounds
  • Price Paid: US$60.00

  • incredibly loud, harsh pedal... definately has it's own sound, which makes it an awesome distortion to have, having different distortions i can switch out that sound wildly different means with your standard a/b box you can shift your entire signal to two different sounds.
  • Good Points: loud, harsh, easy to use
  • Bad Points: none
  • Price Paid: US$42.00

  • output is nice and loud. filter is more like a lowpass filter than the traditional tone knob on a fuzz or overdrive pedal. distortion is nasty and distinctive.
  • Good Points: good ouput volume. useful filter. harsh and abrasive distortion. preserves the low end of signal very well. military grade construction.
  • Bad Points: distortion is somewhat sterile. tone knob is nice, but dedicated two or three bands of eq would make this a real winner.
  • Price Paid: US$70.00

  • I've been using this pedal for years now, i love the sustain, it's just such a mean sounding pedal.
  • Good Points: sustain, volume boost and distotion level is crazy mad. i break everything when i tour with my band except this pedal i think it would survive atomic warfare.
  • Bad Points: theres no way to make the turbo rat sound polite. its just a really harsh sound. but thats why i use it

  • i got this pedal because i heard good things about the proco rat. i do like this pedal. its a good distortion but for the noise i do, its not really that great. the tone on it is a little to warm for me. and it seems the filter knob kind of kills the signal. i do notice when i use it in congunction with me death metal pedal it creates some really nice warm low-end which i like sometimes. if you like the regular rat you should at least try this pedal. i keep in my chain al all times because it seems to have a place and any distortion is good distortion if used properly.
  • Good Points: sturdy casing, really nice distortion but a little to warm at times.
  • Bad Points: warm distortion
