A little stomp box with a big attitude. - Like the reviewer below, I also have a "Roadkill" distortion, which I knew just by seeing the housing for the "Brat" was the exact same pedal. The Roadkill is a fun, cheap, fuzzy distortion which also makes great squealing noises when you throw a dying battery in it, which you can play with by tweaking the tone controls. I paid ten bucks for mine, and it was worth it.
- Good Points: Decent Fuzz, Squealing Noises with Dying Battery...
- Bad Points: Tone Controls don't do much when you're using it as a distortion, Cheap construction.

- For the record, i have the Roadkill distortion, which is identical in every way to this pedal except for graphics. i have opened it up and the circuit even has "brat" printed on it, etc etc. Anyways...This is a fairly decent and quite inexpensive pedal for some extra grit and boost. The distortion is rather warm and muddy, but it can have a good amount of high end bite to it. Construction is pretty much on par with Proco's output, except the switch and jacks are obviously downgraded. No matter, this is still a good pedal, works very well with tape loops.
- Good Points: solid construction, nice sound
- Bad Points: switch seems a bit flimsy..we'll see how it holds up

- A cheap distortion pedal. Has the standard volume, tone, and distortion amount knobs. It has a nice warm sounding distortion to it that doesn't compress your signal very much, unlike some other high gain distortions.
- Good Points: Cheap! Housed in a sturdy steel box. Long battery life.
- Bad Points: Unlike its big brothers (the Vintage Rat, the Rat II, and the Turbo Rat) it only has a standard tone knob instead of a low pass filter. It has some cheap plastic components, particularly the foot switch, which could easily break. Fairly standard distortion.
