I picked up one of these from a 2nd hand shop back in 96 or 97 for because it "didn't work".
It only had a bit of dirt in the switches, I cleaned it and it was back in business.
I was only into metal at the time so I wasn't overly impressed with it's capabilities and sold it to a mate... that mate wont sell it back!
I don't think it would be very good in a noise loop as it relies on amplitude dynamics in order to do its thing(just like any other envelope filter).
Good Points: It looks cool, its a mutron and its the king of the quacky.
Bad Points: the switches are prone to filling with dirt.
