- I bought this quite a while back for use in my metal band, so I didn't experiment much with the effects capabilities at first. Then I realized just exactly how useful a noise tool this little bean is. It goes without saying that a single unit with as many stomp effects models as the PODXT has is an absolute PLAYGROUND for noiseheads. Plenty of distortion models, including a particularly nasty octave fuzz that will fuck up just about anything you run through it. Auto-wah is another nice effect for destroying your tone. The modulation effects are comparable as well- while the chorus leaves a little to be desired, it has some rather thick phase and 2 types of flanger to suit your fancy. Also, the Rotary Drum effect is worth a mention. I think the real beauty of this bean is the Delay section, though. Analog and digital delays are pretty standard, while the tube and sweep echoes add a lot of nice trippy, spacey ambience to things. The stereo, ping-pong, multi-head and reverse delays are all great to work with, especially if you like lots of bold panning effects in your noise. Most all of these models will afford you up to 2000ms of delay as well... plenty of time for improving loops & rhythms, as well as piling up layers upon layers of sound. The chassis has 8 knobs for the preamp settings (bass, mid, treb, reverb, master volume, channel volume, presence & drive) which are fun to shape your sound, but the real magic happens when using the effects tweak knob. Depending on what model you're working with, you can control the drive, gain & tone of te distortions, the rate & depth of the modulations, and the feedback, time and mix of the delays, which is especially fun for getting those swooping, gurgling sounds when dialing the times up or down drastically. Not to mention this thing also has stereo 1/4" outputs, midi in/out AND usb connections. Throw in an on-board compressor/limiter, a noise gate, and a digital EQ, this thing is battle-ready. Also has a hookup for an expression pedal, which might make things even more interesting, but I've always just gone the hands-on approach. Pound for pound, this little red devil is worth it's weight in gold.

- Bad Points: - Some effects sound particularly digital - Lack of any kind of pitch shift capability is my main disappointment - Have a reputation for frying out, but I'd replace it in a heartbeat
