- Ok for a start here is what this pedal is based on - Maestro EP-1, Maestro EP-3, Roland RE-101 Space Echo, Boss DM-2 And the EHX Deluxe Memory Man. Then it has the following line6 originals - Sweep Echo, Lo Res. Delay, Digital Delay, Digital Delay w/ Mod. Rhythmic Delay, Stereo Delay, Ping Pong, Reverse, Dynamic Delay, Auto-Volume Echo and a 14 Second loop sampler with a 1/2 speed, reverse and Overdub function. That saved me buying a whole lot of pedals. I can see why this on all the Math/Prog./Post Pedal boards including Fall Of Troy, Tera Melos, Minus the Bear, Mars Volta, Battles.... This has direct competition from the Boss DD-20. I have had both, My first Line6 did set on fire BUT it was an Ebay job. The loop sampler is far superior to the boss and I think this pedal is the bomb! I think the separate power supply is a necessity and make sure the voltage is correct because it runs on Line6 Only.
- Good Points: So much Delay! Amazing Looper with 1/2 speed and Reverse. Strong. Saves Loops to use when needed.
- Bad Points: No scale for MS on Digital Delay. Alot to figure out. Line6 Power Supply Only

- This beast is pretty amazing. chock full of really useful delays, but the overall draw is from the looping section. especially useful since it has another delay preceding it, so you get delayed loops that you can slow down to half speed or reverse. Does the normal pitch shifting thing that analog delays do, especially nice since most digital delays like this just shift into annoying clicks. Lots of the delays have extra effects added in, modulation, etc. The pedal itself is amazingly built, you could throw this thing at a brick wall and itd survive probably.

- though there is ba plethora of delay options, i typically just use the loop sampler, really just too much to mess with for it to be that versatile imo..
- Good Points: tons of delays and features, looping feature makes it really shine

- The delay bastardizer is what this should be called. Many different delays and echo's for pure noise madness. I have owned this for about 9 months now and i still find new and unusual ways to get cool sounds out of it. My personal favs are the sweep, analog echo ,reverse and of course the 14 second loop sampler. The loop sampler makes it worth every cent by itself. The most brutal thing i have done with it is just clicking the sampler off and on really quick and the most insane machine gun blasts come out. It's crushing. Basically if you are looking for a delay that you won't ever get bored with ,pick this up....you have options out the ass. This thing is built like a tank and has a gnarly green paint job. The recessed knobs are a nice feature so you don't rip the knobs off. Oh shit the reverse and half speed modes on the loop sampler are amazing. Too many options to list 300 bucks well spent!!
- Good Points: Tank like recessed knobs 100,000,000 options wide variety of delays and echos the 14 second loop sampler with reverse and half speed did i mention the options, nine months and i'm still figuring out new ways to use this thing. green paint job
- Bad Points: "C "batteries to run it expensive power adaptor the stupid names the knobs have "tweak and tweeze" the knobs do different things in different modes. It comes with two stickers to tell you what they are but it's still kind of annoying. pricey

- nice variety of delays. from dual delay, tap tempo, rhythmic, tape emulation, lo-fi emulation, reverse, auto-volume, more... feeds back on itself very nicely. looping function is worth every penny; this is where the pedal shines.
- Good Points: loop function is amazing. very solid. variety of delay types. can be used with an expression pedal. saves multiple presets.
- Bad Points: uses so many batteries if not using ac! after 4 years of use, one of my switches doesn't work all the time. corny names for modulation parameters. a few delays sound very digi. expensive. big. ugly.

- I have had this a few years now, great looper! Hours of fun. When i first got this, it owned me, never left home without it, but now for some reason i can't stand the delay, all of them have digital nastiness to them, it really messes your tone when engaged.
- Good Points: The looper and the huge variety of sound available. Self oscilates very easily, can also do non delay fx.

- I LOVE this delay. Sure it has an ugly color which is why mine is painted like the general lee (found it on ebay couldn't resist). Needless to say this pedal is PACKED with various delays, settings and so forth. That being said it is also it's downfall. One moment "Tweez" is a particular setting but in a different delay setting, "Tweez" controls something different. It comes with a sticker to help you but I don't have one. It's a bitch trying to figure out what it does if you don't have the manual (download it if you get one used) or that helpful sticker. I generally use the delay to set a rhythm with my noise project, it's so easy to do it.
- Good Points: Built like a tank, knobs recessed so you don't break them. MANY delays to choose from.
- Bad Points: Color, retarded knob names (tweez), knobs do different things in other delay settings.

- There's only so much to be added to the existing reviews, but here's my Ž¢2... The best features of this pedal are, in my opinion, the loop sampler, the very specific recallable settings (three for every model), and the attatchable expression pedal. The thing that's so damn nice about the expression pedal is that when you save settings, it will save both sets of settings; when the pedal is up, and when it's down. So when you find a specific two settings on some model that does something you like, you can always recall it. It's beautiful. You can also use the expression pedal to fade out loops. Also: unlike many digital modelling delays, you can tweak the rate pedals and whatnot. You can also feed it back on itself. Unfortunately, when used with feedbacker pedals, this pedals tends to make a particular, rather irritating (in a bad way) pitch. Like a D 1/2-flat, if I remember correctly.
- Good Points: Hardcore construction pretty color Very detailed and complex saving of settings Excellent models Wonderful abilities with the expression pedal Oh yeah, it's Stereo! Loop sampler kicks ass

- I have owned it for a little over a year and for the most part I am in love with it. There are four MXR style buttons. Three are for the presets and the fourth is for the tap tempo. I am not going to get into too much depth about the features because you can go to line 6's site for the specs. The dl-4 is great for typical delays but that wasn't what I was interested in. The noise capabilities are great. There are a quite few delay models that work extremely well for noise and experimentation, while the others are alright. My personal favorite is the multihead tape delay. With the repeats are turned up to forever, the delay will begin to self occilate and make some really interesting sounds remeniecient of with. As you turn of the delay time knob the "wind" pitch gets higher until it srt of doubles up on itself and begins a very unstable feedback type sound. If you hit differant harmonics on you rguitar it will actually change the pitch of the delay. The sound is remeniscient of old horror movie sounds. I know that is vague, but it's the best I can do. The analog, tape, and others have some great effects if the repeats are cranked. Defanitly woth the money.
- Good Points: Great noise maker. Great for ambient textures. You can get almost all the spaceship and raygun sounds you would want. You can plug in an expression pedal so you can morph from one setting to another while still playing your guitar. It has stereo ins and out istead of the typical outs only found in other pedals. The fourteen second loop sampler is pretty impressive. I really enjoy looping a fuzzed out low E and then pushing the half-time button for a synth-like swelling. It also has reverse dubbing. It is true bypass.
- Bad Points: One of the buttons quite working after about eight months. I e-mailed line 6 about getting a new one but they were not much help. I am going to take it in for repairs but for now the other two still work.

- This unit is the bread and butter of my set-up. The loop sampler function is well worth what this box costs, but the multitude of delays are really nice too. As far as the looping interface it is very nice and the fact that it will slow down a loop to half speed is a really nice extra. All of the different delays are great, even the "analog " delays on this digital machine are convincing.
- Good Points: Infinite layering possibilities with the looping function. Stereo outs are great.
- Bad Points: You can only uses the excellent delays OR the looping function. AC adaptor was not cheap.

- A very solid delay pedal for just about anything noise/experimental related. Not exactly the same as using a nice old tape delay but the maintenance isn't required with this unit. Its been rock solid for me at gigs and will feedback on itself if you tweak it right.

- I have been waiting to get one of these thigs since '99... Well it was well worth the wait, it is all that and a bag of potato chips... It works well in all sorts of settings - noise, ambient, ect... I love the auto volume, reverse delay, and multi head tape delay... This is one of the most versitile effects I have ever used, it is not only fun as all hell - it is a great creative tool, and it works flawlessly live... And the looper rocks my socks...
- Good Points: Sturdy, True Bypass, 3 user preset buttons, 16 delays, one hell of an awsome delay sampler... Great color, and tons of fun!!!

- The loop Sampler was the main reason why i purchased this, but also with so many delays different delays in it, makes it my most useful pedal by far. Its either this or the giga delay by boss which is simular with many delays on offer and a loops sampler but i got this before it came out, my friend tells me the giga is much better, so if you're considering this, make sure you check out the giga also.
- Good Points: 14 sec loop sampler where you can have what seems like infinite loops going with speed change options and reverse. 24-bit, this will stay fresh for years, but also has lo-fi delay. excellent build.
- Bad Points: expensive but come down in price, but think about it, boss digital delay for Ž£120 or this that can do so much more for Ž£189?

- i got this thing a couple of months ago. i am a pedal junkie and to date this is by far my favorite. the possibilities are endless. i have had nights after practice where i will find a new thing to do with this and spend another hour or two with it. well worth the cost.

- I bought this pedal last summer. Before I had this I bought a Danelectro Tape Echo pedal, which I was never really happy with. My use of Line6now is almost always surprising as I seem to be able to coax an enormous wealth of sounds out of it each time i use it. I find new sounds every day with it and just want to say that it has been an amazing tool for expanding my own ideas about sound composition. My buddy & I hang out sometimes both using this pedal and the stuff we can do is INCREDIBLE! 14 sec. Loop Sampler is truly one of its greatest assests & I use that almost everyday!
- Good Points: Very Sturdy...16 or so delay effects-like I said I can always create NEW &surprising sounds so I think it is a bit tempermental which is good cuz then it can throw you off a little & still kick you in the tail-you don't necessarily 'get used to it'. It's great though and my only choice becuz of the 14 second LOOP SAMPLER.
- Bad Points: The fact that it did not come with the Expression Pedal-it is a sperate cost-maybe0-150...and at times I find the spacing between the knobs a bit tight. I also noticed that the knobs on my buddy's pedal lost their 'click' very early on and had a tendancy to 'slip' a little bit.

- I love this thing. I have been able to pull out some great sounds other than just various delay's, but you definatly need to have the expression pedal hooked up. I have one patch that I set to a basic reverse delay, and then when I change the position of the expression pedal it bubbles into this vibro/reverb sound, very cool. You can use the expression pedal to change any of the options given to you on each setting. Also along w/ almost 20 various delays that are very tweakable you get a nice sampler that you can dub over and over as well as change the speed dramaticly. Personally I put it at the end of my efx chain so i can trip out all my other pedals even more.
- Good Points: If you are willing to put some time into checking out all the different settings and how you can warp them useing the expression pedal it can do some really cool things. I use it live and people seem to love it.
- Bad Points: This is a pricey piece of equipment, but worth it for me. Others may find the price and the semi-complex setup (not that it's brain surgery) a put off.
