This unit is incredible for noise making and for making your bass amp sound generally like a million different different amps. What makes this thing so great for noise is the mods. By changing them, it will make all of your pedals sound radically different making the possibilities for making noise endless. This is one of my favorite pedals to use because of this. Great for both harsh noise and ambient stuff.
Good Points: -Millions of things to do (16 amp mods, 4 distortions, bass synth, 3 s/h, 2 wahs, flanger, phaser, 2 chorus, and ocatave, compressor, drive, and bass/mid/high controls)
-Will change the sound of anything you put into it
Bad Points: -Somewhat expensive but prices have gone down recently so I'm sure you can find one for cheap on ebay

I LOVE this product!! The amp modeling is amazing on this thing. For noise, it really opens up many tonal possibilities. But the effects are key on this thing. An octave down function, 2 choruses, phase, flanger, Mutron (up and down), a synth, and three distortions, all controlled by the EFFECT TWEAK knob. The other knobs are OUTPUT LEVEL, DRIVE, bass, mid, and treble, CHANNEL VOLUME, and a studio-quality COMPRESSOR. It also has MIDI in/out jacks and a DI Output jack, to go right into a soundboard/computer. Many of the parameters can be adjusted and saved for instant recall and it also has a jack for their pedalboard for more crazy variations!
Good Points: solid metal construction, can get a great sound as soon as you plug it in, awesome effects/amp modeling, can change/save parameters, MIDI jacks, great customer service, loyal community of users thru line6.com, extremely portable
Bad Points: a little pricey, but you may find them going down with the introduction of their newer POD model (w/more functions) out now
