- to my knowledge, I own every analog delay ever made. This is the one with the best BBD chip ever made, the Panasonic MN3005. Also, this is the only delay to my knowledge that uses 18 volts. These 2 facts combined are what gives this unit its immence power, and extreme warmth and organic tone. By far, the best ever, period. The warm tone of this unit must be heard to be believed. It is blasphamy to compare this pedal to the DM2 or the AD9, or even the MXR green 118. Those are all 300ms delays with original chips, but to me, they don't hold a candle to the AD80. Is it the extra 9v? possible. All I know is this is the most potent, warm and organic sounding delay I have heard, and I own nearly 100. It does not have the long delay times of the AD900 or the Moogs, but I even own a Moog 104SD, and the tone of this pedal is light years beyond. It is a gift from the guitar heavens that Ibanez accidently (IMHO) overpowered this thing with 18v. You can see a spark when you plug it in. But that is what gives it the charm and power. Only the Way Huge AquaPuss comes close, but close is still second best. These are the tube screamers of the future. Buy one now before the MN3005s dry up for real and these pedals start showing up on Ebay for upwards of 0. It's only a matter of time. There is no better analog delay.
- Good Points: The warm tone, and the immence power of 18 volts give this thing 'Mo-Jo' times 10. True U.F.O. landings, not just half assed run aways like a DM-2
- Bad Points: only bad point I can think of is that it is not true by-passed. That, and if you are not careful, you can blow your speakers. Used carefully, jaws will drop!
