DOD Death Metal FX86

DOD Death Metal FX86

The DOD FX86 Death Metal is absolutely essential to any noise setup. Super high gain and three band equalization settings make this pedal a true killer! The controls are; "R.I.P." (master level); "Guts" (low EQ.); "Pain" (mid EQ.); and "Scream" (high EQ.). The sound emmited range from low-end grinding mess to a hyper-noise screech.

  • The DOD Death metal has a ridiculous amount of volume, and the bass and treble both sound great... the bass is much better than that of the the DOD Grunge, IMO... the bass frequencies on the grunge just sound really "cloudy" to me... Those two pedals are great together at the end of a chain or feedback loop, by the way!
  • Good Points: Sounds great right after a DOD Grunge at the end of a chain/loop, especially for mic feedback. Has a ridiculous amount of gain and really pleasant-sounding hi/low EQ. Works well in a loop... Basically as good as most high-gain distortions in a loop, but it still maintains it's own characteristic sound.
  • Bad Points: Sucks for guitar (IMHO)... not BREWTLE enough in that regard... has a lot of unwanted noise. A pretty limited effect but as stated, great at what it does.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I love this thing, I traded my tech 21 xxl straight across for one of these pretty much new in the box. SWEET!!!! I have the Digitech DM and the newer Dod DM, the original fx 86 sounds a lot more like the Dod then the Digitech. It is just as brutal as the fx86b. I like the paint job on this one a little more than the newer one, it just looks cool. The only problems with this are the usual old school DOD problems, 8 mil power supply and the crappy battery cover. If you make noise you should own at least one of these distortions, they kick ass!!!! Super brutal!!
  • Good Points: Brutal ass crushing distortion built like a tank cheap extra killer paint job goofy names for the knobs
  • Bad Points: the power supply Battery cover goofy names for the knobs

  • Seems like the same pedal as the later editions...except with maybe some more treble?
  • Good Points: Nice paintjob.
