  • This pedal offers some serious, gritty distortion at a bargain price. Solid DigiTech construction and two outputs means that this can be a real workhorse in a chain, whether it's adding static and fuzz, splitting a chain, or generating a feedback loop. Gain doesn't really zero out so it can create some nice "background" static effects even when turned down - which can obviously be a pro or con depending on what you're going for.
  • Good Points: Cheap, loud, nasty sound. Two outputs means it can split a chain or be used as a feedback generator.
  • Bad Points: Doesn't give a whole lot of control when used in a feedback loop. Really needs some syncopation to grab on to, continuous loops kind of overload it.

  • Ok, first off.. This pedal gets pretty high gain. But unfortunately this is my least favorite pedal i own (for loops). The DOD grungefx69 is way better. It kind of weakens my loop and the EQ just sounds so thin. It can kind of boost your signal if you put it at the end of the chain but i can always find a better suited pedal for the same job. This thing works much better with contact mics.
  • Good Points: Well built Two outs LOUD Good with a contact mic Easy to find
  • Bad Points: A bit weak in a loop Not as good as the DOD grungefx69 One trick pony

  • Like others have said, this thing is LOUD. It gets pretty harsh too. I kind of wish there was a mid control, but it's still pretty controllable. When fed into itself there are several spots on the EQ/Level that will give you a great stutter/tremolo. The gain knob is not very dynamic, though. At it's lowest level, it is still very distorted.
  • Good Points: Two outs. Very loud.
  • Bad Points: Gain at lowest setting is still very distorted.

  • Loud loud loud. Great for a second to/last in the chain. Does alright in a loop, gives you some nice tone control. Alone in a loop it sound sounds like a synth.
  • Good Points: Cheap, loud, gritty.
  • Bad Points: A little low on the volume control.

  • Monster high gain pedal!! Can be used by metalheads and hardcore fanatics...The only thing in this pedal that bothers me is that the gain knob is not that dedicated..even if you turn it down low..there's this high gain sound coming from the pedal..so you can't produce a low-gain sounding tone to add variety to your sound. But eventhough that could pose a problem with users looking for a really versatile pedal..all those mosh mongers will surely love the sound of this one...
  • Good Points: very high gain pedal
  • Bad Points: gain control doesn't allow a low-gain sound

  • Ok, before I get started let me tell you that up until this point I have had nothing but disdain for Digitech. The Hot Head pedal turns everything into a loud hum and the multieffect, though usable, is completely cheesy, though you can edit the effects. This Grunge pedal has caused me to have a change of heart about Digitech. The Grunge pedal, when placed in a loop, can cause ear piercing highs and stomach churning lows. It sounds awesome in my loop. it adds a perfect amount of grit to the mix. The only problem is a bit of volume loss (for me at least) but if followed with another distortion it works.
  • Good Points: Gritty sound sturdy proper amount of settings good range
  • Bad Points: a bit of easily fixed volume loss
