Behringer Slow Motion SM200

Oof... I don't know about this thing. The other review on here is raving about it, but I think the guy used it with a guitar... and this is a noise review... and that's why this thing LOSES. Utterly useless in most situations. My plan? To use this to get some awesome choppy noise, and to use with vocals to get a distorted swell on screams and shit. IT DOESN'T EVEN WORK LIKE THAT. I could get it to swell if I kept turning it on and off, but at that point you're better off with a volume pedal. I did find some intersting things in a feedback loop with an EQ, some weird filtery sounding effects, but nothing worth keeping this clunker in my setup. It will work with guitar just fine, if you want to use it for that, the pedal is good. For noise, nah.
Good Points: It was cheap so I don't feel entirely ripped off.

This pedal is a steal, I'd been interested in trying a Boss Slow Gear for a while and when one finally came up for sale I nearly choked on my guinness when I seen the price! The SM200 is almost identical sonically to the Slow Gear. Can make a great 'Whale Song' kinda sound, mix this with a ring modulator and some massive reverb and you've got a sound that'll flap your trousers. Brilliant... But isn't there always a catch. After this processes whatevre signal you put through it there appears to be a crazy rapid decay, this is down to not closing the noise gate I guess. As far as this goes I'd strongly recommend using a compressor or some form of sustain module with it.
Good Points: Nice naff colour, Super-fantastic-diddly-nothin cheap. battery access better than boss design in my opinion.
Bad Points: Plastic case mightn't hold up forever, consider rehousing it. Maplin in the UK do a range of cases that would suit this type of project.
